§1

1. What we collect #

We collect three types of information about you:

  • Account information. Your name, email address, role, and (for businesses) company details you provide when setting up your profile.
  • Content you post. Reviews, star ratings, replies, and any media you attach. This is the content you've chosen to share with the community.
  • Usage data. Pages visited, device type, browser, and approximate location (from IP). This keeps the platform secure and helps us improve it.
§2

2. How we use it #

Your information is used for four things, and nothing more:

Operating your account

Signing you in, keeping your profile secure, and letting you post and edit content.

Showing reviews & businesses

Surfacing the most relevant, verified reviews based on what you're looking at.

Fraud & abuse prevention

Detecting fake reviews, coordinated attacks, and account takeovers before they affect real people.

Transactional emails

Review invitations, verification links, and billing receipts. Not marketing — that's opt-in.

§3

3. When we share it #

We never sell personal data to advertisers. We share limited data with three narrow categories of recipients:

Payment processors

Stripe and Paystack handle card details directly — we never see or store your full card number.

Email delivery providers

Used only to send transactional emails you've triggered: invitations, receipts, verification.

Law enforcement — only when legally required

We respond to valid legal requests (subpoenas, court orders). Where allowed, we'll tell you first.

What we will never do

Sell your data, share reviewer identities with the businesses being reviewed, or run targeted ads against your account.

§4

4. What's public #

Reviews and businesses only work if people can see them. Here's exactly what is and isn't visible to others:

Public

  • Your display name
  • Review content and star ratings
  • Business replies to reviews
  • Public business profile details

Never public

  • Your email address
  • Your password (hashed, even to us)
  • Device fingerprints or IP history
  • Drafts and unposted reviews
§5

5. Your rights #

You have full control over your data. These actions are one click away in Settings — no support ticket required.

Access & correct

View everything we hold about you and fix anything that's wrong.

Export

Download a complete JSON archive of your account data.

Delete

Permanently close your account and purge associated personal data.

Object or restrict

Ask us to stop specific processing. We'll honor any legitimate request.

GDPR, CCPA & regional rights honored in full

If you're in a jurisdiction with additional privacy rights, we don't just comply — we make sure the same self-service tools work for you too. No forms, no waiting.

§6

6. Data retention #

We retain account data as long as your account is active. Deleted accounts are purged within 30 days, though some reviews may remain (attributed to "a former user") to preserve the integrity of a business's history.

Why reviews stay after account deletion

Reviews are a public record of an interaction. Removing one because a reviewer deleted their account would let bad actors erase their impact — and would also let businesses quietly wipe their history by pressuring reviewers. Anonymizing keeps both sides honest.

§7

7. Security #

Passwords are hashed, not stored in plain text. We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest, and limit internal access to personal data on a need-to-know basis.

TLS everywhere

Encrypted in transit

Encrypted at rest

AES-256 storage

Need-to-know access

Audited internally

§8

8. Children's privacy #

VerdictPlus is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email privacy@verdictplus.com and we'll remove it promptly.

§9

9. Changes to this policy #

We'll notify you of material changes by email or in-app notice before they take effect. Non-material updates (like clarifying wording) will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

Recent changes

September 1, 2026 — Added clarity on anonymized reviews remaining after account deletion (§6), and details on the newest US state privacy laws under §5. No material change to how we handle your data.
